*I never wear make up, I think I'm too lazy, but the one day I did wear make up I decided to take a picture to just document this momentous occasion!*
***
But yes... going back to the nature of this post....
Sometimes I think its amazing what the universe gives you.
At the moment I'm having a midlife crisis..
I'm not joking!
I'm 20 in January and i started thinking to myself... 20 next year... I wanted to be a millionaire by the time I'm 23 and I have nothing to show for it!
I think we all get to this point where you think to yourself... where is my life going?
I have always wanted to be a writer, I adore reading, have read from a very young age and I read extremely fast...then it hit me!
Why don't I pursue a job in my favorite hobbies?
I know it sounds stupid but i assumed everyone loved reading, everyone loved writing and everyone could read as fast as i could. Reading books all day would be my ideal job.
***I was looking through random blogs and I came across a writing competition
that Macmillan publishers are running, they want a new author
to write a childrens book and if they like it....
they will publish your book, give
you £10,000 and offer you a publishing contract.***
My jaw literally dropped... this is what i wanted, an opportunity to attempt to actually work towards a career I've always wanted!!! && it's been handed to me on a plate.
It made me think. Maybe me coming across this opportunity simply by looking at random blogs on the internet was meant to happen?
Many people may say it was pure coincident that I came across this
competition...maybe so but I saw it as an opportunity.
The moment I opened up my mind to actually considering to pursue something I loved
I happened to come across the means to achieve it.
But a question to you, the person reading this....
Has anything ever happened to you in your life similar to this, a moment which may be pure coincident but really has made you think?
Are you like me, do you believe if you open your mind to certain possibilities, suddenly opportunities come your way?
<3

I'm kind of bumbling away, taking opportunities to do and study things that I enjoy but having no clue where they're going to converge. I hope you get something incredible out of your opportunity, though!
ReplyDeleteOh I really enjoy your way of writing!
ReplyDeleteI would also love love love to write professionally, but I'm really afraid of the BIG FAIL and not being able to provide for my children (which I hope I'll have one day.)
So instead, I study German and English language, do my Master of Education and become a teacher. Teachers here in Germany earn good money, and besides learning how to be a teacher I learn really a lot about literature and how to write (: and how to teach children to write, which is even more fun.
Writing is something you can always do. Especially if it is your hobby. It doesn't hurt to have a job that's more "reliable" as long as you're still waiting for someone to publish your books. I know people say "live your dream and go for it", but don't we also need a bit of security in our lives?
Oh why did I write so much?
Hi, Natali! Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. I do love reading too, but have not much time for it( sadly) with my 4 kids

ReplyDeleteI have definitely had a similar experience before! I've never had anything handed to me on a plate but when I was yuonger I didn't know what I wanted to do for a career and suddenly I saw an advert for web design and I thought to myself 'I definitely want to do that!' A year later and I'm doing a degree in it.
